Behold: December 28

This week’s readings are based on the “Behold” sermon series. For this series, we are looking at what it truly means to BEHOLD, gaze at, grasp, relish, internalize, and rejoice in Jesus Christ. Start beholding right now by giving thanks for this time with God. Then start reading the text and letting it read you.

Mighty God.
Isaiah 9:6 (ESV)

He is the Mighty God. All things were created through Jesus, for Him, and He holds everything together (Colossians 1:15-17). He has all rule, all authority, and all power above every name in this age and the next (Ephesians 1:20-23). The wind, the waves, and creation obey His command (Luke 8:25). He is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End (Revelation 22:13). There is no one greater; He has no equal. He is eternal God, who is, was, and is to come (Revelation 1:8). Jesus stands above all, because He is always present, all-knowing, and all-powerful, but, “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” (Philippians 2:6-8 NIV).

When you think about Jesus, do you describe Him as the Mighty God? How does this one truth change everything?
