Behold: December 16

This week’s readings are based on the “Behold” sermon series. For this series, we are looking at what it truly means to BEHOLD, gaze at, grasp, relish, internalize, and rejoice in Jesus Christ. Start beholding right now by giving thanks for this time with God. Then start reading the text and letting it read you.

The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
Luke 2:20 (NIV)

All week long, we have been looking at this phrase through the lens of the shepherds, “Do you see what I see?” One thing is true, we cannot see Jesus and leave the same. Shepherds worked a hard and stinky job that regularly made them outcasts due to being ceremonially unclean. In this moment, God shows them that He sees them and that they are loved. All they could do is glorify and praise God in response. Sometimes, this can get lost in the midst of a busy holiday season. Where do you need to see Jesus more clearly? Prayerfully ponder this question over the next week leading up to Christmas.
