Behold: December 13

This week’s readings are based on the “Behold” sermon series. For this series, we are looking at what it truly means to BEHOLD, gaze at, grasp, relish, internalize, and rejoice in Jesus Christ. Start beholding right now by giving thanks for this time with God. Then start reading the text and letting it read you.

And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10-11 (ESV)

Here again, we find our word for this series, “Behold.” In this instance, it is directing our focus to the good news of great joy, because Jesus has been born! That’s not all, because He is given three titles: Savior, Christ, and Lord. Savior means one who delivers His people from evil/sin. Christ means one appointed or set apart above all else. Lord means one who has both authority and deity. Prayerfully ponder each of these titles today. Which resonates with you? Which do you struggle with? Ask God to help you see Jesus as Savior, Christ, and Lord.
